At least they don't have a polished aluminum prop on it anymore.

I had not noticed that prior to reading your post. That's at least a (very small) step in the right direction! :)

The museum does have plans to fix the paint job in the near future. I can't really say about the windows, because I just don't know. As non-accurate as the paint color is, I will say this one thing; she is the only Hellcat that I've been able to see fly so I'll go ahead and take that.

Improtnat to note that this was a restoration done a long time ago when the idea of an accurate military scheme was just starting. While not as old lets all rember what most of the CAF fleet wore in the 60's. When this airplane was restored it was at a time that no one was considering rebuilding a Hellcat as a worthy investment when you could get a Mustang flyer for a lot less.

As the proprerty of a priviate individual for many years she was only turned over to LSFM officially in relatively recent time frame (less than 10 years).

I also know that after repainting T-Bird and Special Delivery (whose paint was in much worse shape and needed to be done to protect the airframes) as well as getting a few others fixed up she was on the short list to get redone when teh storm hit a few years ago. Can't blame the powerst that be for concertrating on putting back together the ones that were hit hard in the storm and back burning this. She may not look authentic but last time I was down she was in good mechanical shape.

I know that they will get to her eventually and as always - anyone that feels really strongly about I am sure Larry will be very happy to paint in teh scheme of anyones choice that wants to pay for the work.
