Could it be that they skipped the final battle because there's so much evidence/controversy that Brown wasn't the cause of the Baron's death? Had they decided to show the final battle and indicated that Brown had, in fact, been the one to shoot him down, they'd have gotten flak from those who dispute that version. Conversely, had they shown that it was ground fire that brought him down, it would have created flak from the Brown supporters. Not to mention that the Baron's reputation might have been "sullied" by the intimation that he was killed by a common grunt.
