Which FW is entered in the Reno Races this year??

The same one that was at Planes of Fame airshow this year, hangered across the runway from PoF. I don't know who owns it, but bdk does. This is the one with the R-2800 (I think) and 4 bladed prop. A search on WIX can pin it down.

Frasca. Guess it will depend if the oil cooling problems have been solved?

That is Frasca's and it does have a 2800 in it, but it has a 3 bladed prop, not 4. Currently, only two Flug Werk's have the 4 bladed props - the one that ran off the runway in the Carolinas and Yagen's example at Meiermotors in Germany.

Yea, that's a great idea! Let's put an extremely rare aircraft at risk with a one-of-a-kind engine which is the only one operating in the world at the moment. I see no problem with overboosting that BMW 801 which probably cost close to half a million to overhaul just to stroke some rich guy's ego.

Now, if you want to race a Flug Werk, I have no problem with that. You can run those into the ground, as far as I'm concerned. The Flug Werk's are replaceable, that Focke-Wulf 190 is not.

While we're at it, I think the EAA should race their XP-51 and the MAAM should race their P-61 as well. Think how cool that would be?

Might as well throw in the POF's Zero as well. That Sakae engine just deserves to be red-lined just to prove that American fighters are not all their cracked up to be in the Bronze race.

He he-Jet 1 comes out with that line whenever a rare aircraft is talked about -always catches some one out
The overhaul of that particular BMW cost waaaaaaaay more than half a mill AFAIK :Hangman:

dont tell them that.....ill lose my fishin skillz [i would like to see it fly though]

The BMW 801 is now installed to the FHC Fw 190 and made first run a few days ago.

So it's going to join the Breitling Fighters aerobatic team for a year first?

JME Aviation Norfolk UK did a heap of very meticulous work on the aircraft which is highly original-only three of the original fuselage skins were not reused, and that because they turned up too late IIRC-Bruce can elaborate I am sure... (all the new skins put on by Flying A were replaced). This will be an outstanding restoration when completed-kudos to JME and Paul Allen.
