Ryan, since when are all the other posters responsible for keeping you entertained? If you are disinterested in what is presently being posted, I encourage you to step up and post something of greater substance.

You missed my last statement. Also, it has for me far less to do with entertainment, than for education and industry information. For instance, I'll almost always open up something from 51fixer or the guys with the Cobra Den stuff. Yeah, I occasionally participate in the "entertainment" threads, but really like learning something from the doing something threads.

Ok, I'm just going to say one more thing on this topic, and I'm not replying further. It's stuff like this your post that is annoying.

So maybe right now I don't have something really significant to say... Maybe I will in a month or two I will when we're in OUR busy season getting ready for our upcoming informal L-birds and more fly-in celebrating our newly approved as a public-use airport 53T south of San Antonio, participating in Wings Over Houston, or our local show at Lackland AFB. Right now, my involvement is minimal as we don't do much in the summer with the heat that wouldn't be too great for crowds. We'll kick it in later. In the meantime, I'm working on getting our aircraft's paperwork lined up for the shows, and trying to recruit some new members. I was commenting on the demise or recent lack of participation by some other much more valuable (than me) posters over exchanges and conversations similar to this one. Don't know how that qualifies me as one having to next pony up something I maybe don't have just yet. That doesn't change the fact that there are a lot of guys like Tulio who are not posting now. Now, I am going to take you seriously. I'll think about some topic that might be of interest, and do something about it... Don't know just how soon, but I'll figure out something.

Ryan

Thank you, guys.

Thank you Doug [MachHarvard] for letting me know about this thread, thank you John Bell, for asking.

As it has been pointed out, there have been too many incidents here, where the pettiness and simple downright attitude of some people, finally pushed me to stop caring about my participating here. Having had some health issues did not help the situation at all.

The main reason though, was that I realized, that I was becoming more and more, like those people whose attitudes I did not like, and decided to stop participating; I was arguing and posting, without checking my facts first and that made me as guilty as anyone else, of what I disliked about some attitudes on the forums.

I am no fan of long and protracted farewells; I came to this site quietly, and decided to leave the same way.

I do appreciate your kind words and opinions about this humble servant of yours; maybe in the future, I will feel inclined to participate again.

My best regards to you.

Tulio

Tulio

Hope the health has improved and look forward to you 'quietly' slipping back here now and then. Things have settled down a bit over the past months (don't forget-if we all spit togther we can drown the buggers  )
Seems to be quite a bit of activity in your 'area of speciality' recently, Alvaro has been posting a little on the 100 Ann. of Aviation in Chile and the TAM Museum has reopened its doors with some interesting new exhibits.

regards
Dave

Tulio.......I am so glad to see your posting. You know that I understand your absence and I am sorry that it came to that. Your posts in the past were always enjoyable and informative. They have been missed but you did what you thought best as others of us have done also. I hope you are well and in time will come back to WIX on whatever basis is comfortable for you.

Take care, my friend :D

Thanks for popping in Tulio. I wish you lots of happy healthy times in the future and know you will be contributing to aviation in some sort of fashion outside of this forum. Good luck in your endeavors! :)

Awesome! Exactly the kind of response Scott needs to make WIX an even more valuable website.

I am convinced that with a site of this nature, one receives from it in proportion to what one provides. Your initial post in this thread bemoaned a perceived lack of substantive content (of late); your last post indicates you personally plan to help change that. The whole WIX community will now benefit.

Hopefully you don't find these words of encouragement too annoying.

I just want to say that I think people are getting "spoiled" about what WIX provides. Ryan, this is not directed towards you at all, your comment just made me think about it again, that's all, as I've heard many others say the same thing!

Where else on the internet can we gain, nearly instantaneous news about our favorite subject? I don't know know anywhere else that has such a broad information warbird base on the web. Just think, we got nearly instantaneous news on FiFi's first flight, the Helldiver recovery, MeierMotor's current news from half-way across the globe, not to mention the latest news on airshows, restoration, recoveries, history, and unfortunately crashes :( . I think that's a pretty darn good flow of information - and all of that has happened in the last few weeks.

Some may have an interest in niche subjects, like what kind of carburetor is in the 2600 on the Helldiver, what is the width of the lines on the "stars and bars" post-43, what was really the first bomber to get 25 missions in the ETO, which is better Airbus or Boeing? That's fine and there are different interests for different folks. For such detailed niche subjects there are numerous other forums where one can get their fix! But for overall general warbird news, WIX is the very best there is! It gets no better! This forum can't be all things to all people, but for providing basic warbird information and news, it is numero UNO!

I remember when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's and I had to wait 2 or 3 months for the latest Air Classics to come out just to find out the new restorations at Oshkosh or the new first flights at Chino, etc. Now we get that news the same day! I hate to say it , but I think a lot of people on this forum have become very spoiled when it comes to information acquisition. Just 10 years ago, it was never as easy as it is now.

Just my thoughts on the subject, even though nobody probably cares. :)

tulio, when you came here to bum f**k wakeman for a visit i had a ball with you!! i even remember what your lunch was!! + you picked up the tab!! the certain egotists & prima donnas that swim amongst the wix gang like hungry sharks on a feeding frenzy must not get to you. i put up with b.s. like that every day as a merchant....... you saw my stores..... somebody always has to prove they know more than i do or is out to manipulate me. you've got many hot chili peppers to fire back with, & you are always a gentleman when doing so. let the rag asses do what they do best. if they can't be civil on this board they certainly aren't civil in daily interaction with people who don't want to be treated that way either. you stand on solid ground w/ your feelings, & have my respect, but don't let s.o.b.s get the best of you. best, tom

I will only say that as a daily visitor to WIX, things have improved quite a bit over the last year or so.

Other than a few individuals who cannot keep their political views to themselves, things are fairly calm and a far cry from when we all had to tolerate the bothersome member with 9 lives (Sabredriver, Wixlova, HGUCSU, etc.) Thanks to the mods for the pest control.

Tulio,

While the unpleasant minority turns many of us off, the silent majority has always appreciated and respected your posts. I don't post as much as some of the regulars, but I'll be honest: I don't post or share as much as I would like due to the negative tone that does rise from some WIX threads; that's my personal choice too. As Mudge says, I'm now more selective in the threads I pursue. What keeps me coming back, though, are threads like the FIFI project, Helldiver recovery, or the one I recently started on what features help "make" an authentic B-25. That's what WIX is all about.

What is sad is that anyone's reduced participation in WIX is part of a viscious cycle. The fewer that post, the fewer that read, the less interesting the threads, and so it goes. In fact, because the Mods have improved, I wonder if a mass contact might be sent out to all members requesting that they consider a return. There are so many people out there who could share or might choose to share more in an improved climate. We would all win with an increased member presence. Just a thought.

Regardless of what the masses choose, I hope you choose to lurk and will consider a return to sharing when/if it suits you.

Kind regards,
Ken
