ME-262 Visit

The front cockpit is very roomy and comfortable. The stick sits high but it wouldn't be hard to get used to. The rear hole requires some minor contortions to get in. We are working on a conforming ladder concept that will make entry easier than climbing on the wing. The rear cockpit is cozy but still more room than the Mustang. The visibility from both cockpits is outstanding.

You need to come down and try the A-4 cockpit. Then you'll appreciate the " roominess" of the 262 ! :shock:

She looks good, lot better than when I first saw her the beginning of last year !

Seriously, though, the '262 is a magnificent aircraft, and I'm really looking forward to seeing it fly! I guess I'll have my chance when the Tour comes to Dallas next spring. . .

Funny Dean! It's just because I am out of my normal comfort zone! I've got about an hour in the backseat of an L-39...thats it for my turbine time. I can't wait to fly in it...but not seeing propellors or manifold gages is out of my realm!

As soon as us jet folk make sure it's safe for you slower guys..... :roll:

Just remember, back for slow, forward for GO ! Especially when you have an extra 2000 lbs of thrust handy !!

Jet A/JP-8 . Sure, it's got GE CJ-610-8As in it. They just have that much extra thrust over the Junkers Jumos. Doesn't mean it will run in any faster. But it will climb a lot better, if you use it all !

When these were built there was talk of having them "convertible" between single seat and dual. Is this one constructed like that?
