This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

This thread is a good example of why I don't post here any more. Grown men acting like children.

yet you had to make a post to tell us you don't post anymore

Hey Muddy, try to think of it as somewhat entertaining......? I always hate seeing good people leave forums because of, well, this sort of stuff. It just doesn't do a lot of good for anyone.

I haven't left the forums. I just quit posting because there is always one jackass who has to one up somebody else. In my case it was bruce, but I'm sure if it weren't him it would be somebody else.

August, you put me in the uncomfortable position of having to agree with you about our prior treatment of Native Americans... after I read your first post, I thought you put one of your bierkenstocks square in your own mouth! However, in WWII we didn't go around lopping peoples heads off for sport, like the Japanese did to American prisoners on the Bataan death march, or commit other atrocities against Japanese POW's. Also, we didn't rape, murder and pillage millions in China or Korea.

PS Good to hear from you again, Muddy!

i'm only going to say whilst i dont support what the japanese did during ww11,the germans murdered betwwen 6 and 12 million jew's, gypsies ,poles and slovac,s and theyre seen as not so bad

but the japanese did alot of bad stuff (china and beheading of pow's etc)and theyre are evil, and less the 40 years earlier they were still a feudal nation.
just seems a bit hypocritical to me to despise one nation and hold another up high

August there is no doubt what was done with Indians was wrong. But to compare the americans to the Japanese is crazy. Also one of the biggest differences is the U.S. Doesn't hide what happened, but educates so that it won't happen again. In school every year kids take part of the year to learn about it. The Japanese hide and change history that they created. They did so to the point that the Chinese were recently burning the books because there was a chapter missing that covered WWII.

Changing it so much, that a mate of mine, who is Japanese.., was on a flight with a japanese teenager and he asked her what they were studying in school.. She said WWII history.,. and he asked her about it and she said it was a terrible war between Japan and Russia.., he said anyone else and she said NO!
Amazing!!!

this thread has lost it's bearings. japanese historic & religious traditions have made this thread a mute point. the japanese industries did use pow slave labor, & reaped the benefits of not having to pay them for it. the huge savings have today morphed into conglomerate companies such as mitsubishi, toyota, nikon, etc. the germans did the same thing & now look at the recent results...... mercedes benz, vw, zeiss, etc.
as to the topic of this thread, the japanese are world class, shrewd & aggressive business people. i'd bet that they do have a few historic nest eggs stashed!! other than the passion of one's interests, why do people / corporations collect anything??......... investment!! all japanese warbirds & parts certainly have mystique, & are rare so they are investment grade, with their ww 2 flight gear not far behind.

Chris... it wasn't just wrong, it was unforgiveable. I could list the many things which were done, before, and after independence. We had slavery too.... and Jim Crow. But that was then, and this is now. None of us here played any part in that, and the slate should be clean... for all of us.
To say we don't hide anything is a bit naive though... every nation hides its uncomfortable past to some degree. We are much better at it now (ie. being open), but it's taken a long, long time. Every nation has their barbaric side... we are all human, afterall. It shouldn't stop us from being proud of who we are as a people though... but "pride comes before a fall"... so we must remain ever vigilant to preserve open-ness and the truth.

Well said Richard. I don't disagree that what the US did to the native Americans was wrong, but like I said that history has always been taught, and it gets more and more detailed all the time. The Japanese continue to try and cover it up. Getting rid of vehicles, changing the names of islands and writting school books that are a joke. Like you said no group is perfect. Even the native Americans had slaves after all.
