So no one else noticed Diamond Lil is two different years? How many of the other pics are repeats a year latter?

Can anyone identify the Zero? It looks much more like Frank Tallman's conversion than the Tora birds.

Looks like the B-17's No. 1 engine is feathered. Wonder what happened.

Until you brought this up I was confused by the 2 B24's and the years I took the pictures as the carousel is marked 1970 but 6 of the slides are printed MAY 71. Upon further examination this evening I can see the balance of the slides are stamped (very faintly) JUL 70. The 6 slides from MAY 71 are: Corsair, "Zero", Crosair-White P-38 & Wildcat, P-39 and OV-10 Bronco, White with red trim P-39, the B24 in camo.

Yeah I noticed Diamond Lil and the Pemex paint differences...just thought its was obvious and therefore did not comment other than to say the "white B-24 is Diamond Lil"
Cool to see both paints in consecutive years...that tells us when she was painted. nifty pics!

I didn't see a P-39, I think you are seeing "Tumbleweed", the CAF's other P-63. The yellow and white with black trim is the CAF's P-63F.

At the time I took the pictures I didn't know there was such a thing as a P-63. Even now I can't tell the difference.
Is there some sure fire way to tell which is which?

On the P-63, the trailing edge of the rudder is a straight edge...narrower appearing fuselage before the tail planes, and later
models have a ventral fin at the base of the fuse. Those are the quickies. Other details like engine induction scoop, intakes
at the wingroot, etc. fall into place upon exam...

I'm thinkin it is N3161G (44-30324) Devil Dog did not become a CAF bird until 1976.

Ahhhh....Thanks WBN......I thought she lookted like 61G, I was unsure about the time frame of Devil Dogs arrival on the ramp at the CAF...guess I coulda checkted the Warbird Registry *slaps self in the forehead*...now I know I have become a lazy bumb.... :Hangman:

You left out the most obvious quickie, a 4 blade prop!

Added to what has been said above, the prop is a BIG give away, 3 blader verse a 4 blader for the -63 :wink:

Yep, unless the prop is turning. I was at Wooden Keels & Classic Wheels one year when, IIRC Borman's P-63 did flyovers with
either a Turkey or
the SB2C. A fella with his honey, commented on the wondrous P-39 Airacobra! I attempted a correction to no avail. I
was probably channeling that moment from years passed...
