Grissom also commanded the first manned flight of the Gemini spacecraft, it being the ultimate test pilot honor to be chosen to make the first flight of an aircraft or spacecraft. And, of course, his performance was stellar enough to be chosen to command the first manned Apollo flight.

I think he named his Gemini "Molly Brown", as in, "the unsinkable Molly Brown."

Let's not forget the Challenger crew, lost this day in 1986. I was driving up route 10 in northern NJ on the way to the County College when I heard the news, then watched the footage in the student center. My uncle photographed it from an Eastern Airlines flight enroute to Ft. Lauderdale. They didn't announce what had happened until they landed.
