Sounds good man. Roof off just chilling. I wonder how many WIX'ers we can fit in a Jeep? Or how many cones we can run over, or if Al will turn it into a night club again. Those are some of my best memories of Oshkosh. I can't wait.

We are looking into getting the B-25 Yellow Rose up there this year. We'll try to sell rides there to support the trip.

I'm not sure about taking the P-39, but I intend to bring it up to the Central Texas Wing staff. The big problem with the P-39 is there is not any way (that I can think of, ideas welcome though) to generate income with it to support the trip up there.

Yellow Rose would certainly add to the fun. Looks like Pacific Prowler and Barbie are also attending this year.

And as for the P-39: All I can say is that the WIX contingent vows to keep pilot and crew chief well fed and watered for the duration (You folks do like your beer cold, right?).

Get the P-39 booked for an air show near Oshkosh (fuel reimbursed plus charge an appearance fee), happening around the same time frame as AirVenture. Try calling the air ops guys booking for air shows in Elkhart Indiana, Gary Indiana, Rockford Illinois, Duluth Minnesota, Prairie Air Show (Peoria Illinois), even Thunder Over Michigan. That gets most of your round trip fuel covered plus more for flying at AirVenture if you get an appearance fee, though you will get reimbursed for any flying you do in the warbird show.

A P-39 would be TERRIFIC to see at Oshkosh!

And Paul, looking forward to seeing you and your T-33 there. With T-33s, the A-4, MiG-21 and Hawk One Sabre (and hopefully MORE...) this year's show could turn out to be a great vintage jet warbird gathering.

When you know, let us know what day you will be arriving and what other jets may be flying in with you.

From what I have read so far it looks like Friday and possibly to a lesser extent Saturday will be the best days to see warbirds, including jets in the air. Not sure how the "Wednesday Vietnam Salute" works into this. Could we expect to see warbirds from that era (A-4, A-1, MiG-21, etc.) flying that day?

Really looking forward to July.

So guys and gals, what night should WIXFest 5 (or is it 4? :drinkers: ) take place? We've hosted the gathering on Thursday evening the last few years - should we stick with that plan, or? Is the Warbirds banquet on Friday or Saturday night?

Dan, I guess you're off the hook this time for extra tables and chairs, unless you want to haul them all the way from Minnisoda.

Zack

Dan,

I'm sorry to report that the P-39 crew doesn't like cold beer
unless there's lots of it!!!! :D

I might have to make myself the crew chief for this mission, if I can put it together!

Mike
