I think there's a large case of Scooter envy going around, because it seems like everyone is getting one these days! That's not a bad affliction!

So, who is Maj.? Is that short for Major or something else?

Maj is Mike McDougal.

He has been working with a small team to build a TA from a stripped out TA-4 forward fuselage and the tail and wing from an A-4L. They've overcome most of the obvious obstacles. They started 4 1/2 years ago.

Awesome - now if someone would just restore one a little closer to Wendover it would be great! Just too far for a small air show to brign either Rick or this one out! :x

Is this the airframe that used to be at Goshen with the Northern Indiana Aviation Museum?

Anyone know if "Tiger Tom" Klassen still owns one? This is going back to 2005 when I last spoke with him, but he had an A-4C.

Also, I heard from a friend in Canada that some Israeli ones had come onto the market?

Rich,

That would be cool - I had heard many people swear that those Israeli jets would never see US soil again - same with the F-4s. But I have wondered if you bought them and shipped to a US friendly country (western Europe?) where they were refurbished and flown in an air show capacity for a couple of years - what would stop the sale and import into the US??

Tom, the "stop" would be the U.S. State Dept.

It would fall under Arms Import/Export Control (ITAR not to be confused with UTAR which is what the people who would stop such a transfer are  )

Great news, well done Scooter Team.

I'm just guessing, but I don't think EASA would wear that - not sure what the highest performance non-European jet warbird type is that's operating there is.

I couldn't tell you. I have yet to see it. I hear they also have a Fouga in there.
