Indeed, Thanks for the great pics. I think part of it is the "Internet Attitude", get it quick, get it for free, thank no-one! I have been running into frustrations just posting. If I take to long in composing my post, I have to log back in and then redo the entire post...I already lost this one once!!! So I am having to copy it before I try to post, just in case I have to log back in!!!!

A longtail P-40F-20 re-engined w/Allison as a P-40R-1 with NMF. :rolleyes:
You never know, Not always what it looks like. :o
Apparently, 247 P-40F's and 53 P-40L were converted to R-1/R-2.

Anyone have the pic of 41-14137, the first long tail P-40 that was converted from a short P-40F-5?

Another interesting twist in the P-40R saga is that the AAF claimed some 700 conversions. Baugher has a much smaller list of serial numbers and '039 doesn't appear on this list. I guess WIX found another one!
