Awesome! Thanks Dan! What great footage. It looks like an awesome place for an airshow. Grass strip, real greenery and trees and an observation platform on top of a hill seem to make it a fantastic place to view an airshow. Has anybody been to Hahnweide and can give me any advice on it?

Anybody have any still photos of the B-17 and 190 flying in formation?

Been to the last two - an awesome show, the best I have seen in Europe this year. Its bi-annual so you have almost two years to plan your visit. Still basically a fly-in event so very informal and everyone is invited to the evening party - lots of beer and Bratwurst! Open access to the flight line between 7.00 and 9,00 am on the Sunday. Superb setting, friendly hosts and wonderfully ecclectic mix of aircraft (apart from the FW-190/109 scenario above how many times do you get a Bleriot and an Polikapov I-16 in the same show)!

We brought the Hurri-bomber which was much admired and appreciated by everyone, all in all a great weekend.

Thanks Mark V, I appreciate the input. That sounds like a don't miss airshow. I absolutely love the natural setting, no concrete or modern buildings to get in the way. It's almost as if you are transported back to 1940's Europe!

It also has dimples on the cowling... I'm guessing the prop and cowling dimples are for the Russian engine. Should be a fun show...

There was a thread about those issues here within the last year. I'm too lazy to look it up, but you can search for it. The basic conclusion was the following:

1) The "glass" cockpit, was just a cardboard mock-up and is not really going to be installed. It was just for fun.

2) The "non-standard" 4 bladed prop and engine come from a Chinese TU-2. Both the TU-2 and Flug Werk 190 use the same Ash-82 engine. I believe they bought that TU-2 QEC from the War Eagles Museum in New Mexico. They are only using the engine, and not the cowl or prop. It was installed on the 190 to get final measurements and adjustments for later installation of the cowls. It should have a "normal" Ash-82 engine, cowl and 3 bladed prop when it is finished.
