I looked for the 102 and did not see it. The old OTS buildings have been largely torn down, so who knows where the airplane went.

For some reason I did forget to post this shot of the F-101 that is there, though, in my original post on Monday. If you look to the background on the left, you can see one of those old OTS dorms that is half destroyed.

Two different bases, even. The Thuds are on Lackland and the Vipers are on Medina. There are probably 5 or 6 threads about the Thuds here on WIX, with numerous sets of photos. Brad Pilgrim posted closeups of each airframe within the last year or so in one of the threads. There's another thread where photos of the airplanes in the 1980s before the canopies were painted over.

It would be good if one on the moderators could merge all the different Lackland Thud threads together since it is a topic that comes up repeatedly on WIX and there are some fantastic posts that are spread out over those many different threads.

Here are the Lackland Thuds (only 9 left!) on Monday afternoon:

2) How is the F-82 doing these days, is the corrosion in check or not?

Here's a shot of the P-82 as of Monday. I actually drove right past the plane last week visiting some military friends, but didn't get to go to the parade grounds. I have lots of good memories of going there as a boy when it was still ok to visit as a civilian.

agreed Ryan.., those were good times.., my father was retired AF and I used to celebrate my birthday parties around these airplanes. used to climb on them from top to back.., especially the B-17. Did not harm them.., we were 40 lb kids.., but lots of good memories.

CHECK. For whatever reason I was thinking the F-16s were at the Ramp Training site on the northern end of the Lackland. (which come to think of it has been dicussed in a few threads as well.) thanks

those 105s look like fire-em-up, taxi out and take off in them. now i'm sure it would be a little more involved than that but they do look good in the pics.

If anyone is interested, I can go shoot new photos of the parade ground airplanes. The last time I took pics of them was back in 2005, but from the drive-by I made of them on Monday it doesn't look like much has changed.

Actually, if it wouldn't be too much trouble I could use some close-up detail shots of the P-51H. Specifically the Landing gear, engine cowling, tail, and wheelwells, if they're still opened. Reference material for the H-models is thin on the ground at the moment.
