We'll try to get the PT-22 in the air in the next month or so... I'll do my best to keep everyone posted and get some pictures of it flying... It's MOSTLY down to paperwork.

Great to have Red Tail back by the way... and amazing to see all of the support. The guys who put her back in the air did an amazing job.

I'm a bit behind the history curve on "By Request"...can someone tell me what the plane's name was and who owned it in previous life?

Thanks!

No problem, Tom! I don't know if you realize it, but there is a HUGE repository of many, many surviving warbirds right here on this site. It's called the warbird registry. On the main page for this forum, there is a link to it. Whenever you have a question on any particular warbird's identity, serial/bureau/werk numbers, etc, or history of an airframe, that should be the first place you look. You're in luck, because all of that information is here:

Thank you for sharing your excellent photos Paul, I'm glad that you were able to get some good shots of the aircraft while it was flying overhead as well. My camera lacks greatly in zoom power. I'm sorry we weren't able to meet up - by the setting of your photos I am sure we crossed paths without knowing it.

Here's one more photo that I forgot to post originally. (Vlado, I was thinking about you when I noticed that in this second rebuild of the aircraft, the gear doors have been painted silver, not green as before).

I am sure we avoided each other, not on purpose, to get shots of her. LOL!

Thank you for the reference to the registry, Warbird1...I sure apprecitate that steer...great reference and history of that airplane. Sad to read of Don Hinz's unfortunate demise...but as someone said before, no doubt he's smiling down on "Red Tail/By Request" and her restorers now.

Thanks again...

Does anyone know how to contact the gentlemen that is standing in as a Tuskegee pilot in these shots. He is doing a great job!
