WTF is all the stupid secrecy about? If the bloody thing is for sale it's hardly meant to be a secret is it?

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm still trying to figure out if this is the P-38 that Jeff Ethell was flying. Is it or not or is that a secret?

If that's the case, then how does one interpret this statement:

Its last flight was at Tillamook , OR

Which contradicts this:

You will probably find this is a Rob Greinert "Jungle Bob" recovery !
Ben Morgan is involved with the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society and Rob Greinert

I don't think *Lightning* has the first frigging clue.

Bruce Pruitt no longer owns the P-38 wreck that Ethell killed himself in.

O.K., so are you going to spill the beans or perpetuate this secret that no one seemingly wants to talk about? :?

It did occur to me, that if the original advert had stated the Serial Number and history then there would have been less fuss.

As it is, people 'including me' assumed it was a new recovery and then started asking questions about the ID which only went on to bring even more attention on the aircraft that it would not have merited otherwise....

Boy that looks familar.
I took a bunch of photos of the wreckage just after a friend of mine recovered it. Remember I issed the disclaimer "As far as I know"
That's my get out of jail free card

No problem Jack, you're absolved of any responsibility. I just hate it when people bring up information on threads, then clamp down when asked for any basic facts. It just kind of smacks of arrogance along the lines of "I know a secret and I'm not going to tell anyone - Na na na na na!". This, along with the seemingly contradictory info that was posted was very aggravating.

If the owner or aircraft I.D. is a secret because the owner doesn't want to reveal it yet for whatever reason - that I can respect. But I think it is kind of pointless to play this silly secrecy game when an aircraft ad is in the public domain.

BTW, in the original Barnstormers ad which started this, it says to contact Jeff Thomas. Why is that name familiar to me? Is he associated with Vulcan (Paul Allen)?

Is Paul Allen the new owner of this project?

This is true. I believe he has substantial remains of at least 2 P-38's. Should we now count it as 3?

I had talked to Jeff Thomas back in May when he was looking for P-38 parts. His P-38 projects also had been listed on Courtesy. None of what he had, had any connection to Bruce Pruitt's P-38 wreckage.
