Quite alot of pictures in the USAAF Picture Collection in the National Archives - surely you must be aware of most of them???

Also I can't remember whether I read somewhere that you were looking for internal shots?? If so one of these may be of help.

If you need help looking the rest out please let me know.

For years I didn't have any idea what those "M J5" codes meant when she was on that plinth. I am guessing those might have been her codes when she was a trainer at MacDill? I'd like to see some photos of her during the time she served as a training ship.

No idea why that didn't work, GP...it's formatted properly, and I copied it directly from your post, pasted it here, and it worked fine.

Wow! Does anyone have a close up shot of the Go-Go Booted stripper art on her?

Just put a flag behind it and it will look like some of the art running around these days!

There are a couple of nice ones here Chris , but as they are taken from the NMUSAF archives, you have probably seen them. Worth a try anyway.

Sometime in 1972, my mom loved that gremlin.
The go-go dancer was gone, I would have been really disappointed otherwise.

it really is amazing, the aircraft that were left sitting for years. i suppose no-one would think twice about scrapping an aicraft from the gulf war, but what are they gonna think in 65 years ???? we are so fortunate the way things have worked out for the surviving veteran warbirds. it really could have been so much worse. i always secretly hope that they are gonna find an intact B-17 stashed somewhere. stranger things have happened. something that we can control to some degree is to keep the pressure up to get some of these birds that are displayed outdoors under some cover. i know that is a huge task, but its gotta be done sooner than later. anybody know whats going on with that gas station B-17 in oregon ???

Me too. Ernie McDowell saw her during her training days and he recalled that she still carried what was probably the original nose artwork. He clearly remembered the different colours of the swimsuit - blue one side, red the other.

Hear, hear. We may take issue with the decisions of certain museum executives, particularly those employed by the government. But that has nothing to do with our admiration for the volunteers and staff who are doing the dirty work of maintaining and restoring these priceless aircraft. My argument is never with them. Chris, you and your colleagues have my highest respect.

Love the shots of the Gremlin, too. :)
