Howdy All

The majority of aircraft steve has obtained are either already flying or not far off from flying . I dont think he is after an aircraft that requires major restoration. The Collection seems to be based on flying aircraft (Bombers)

I just wonder if he was the person who has obtained the Beaufighter off Provernance Fighter Sales.

Has the Provenance (TFC) Beaufighter been sold?????? :?

And are Provenance still in business? There was a thread up here recently speculating to the contrary.

I thought I had just read somewhere that the Movie Memphis Belle would be getting some new paint on her (still retaining the scheme). I can't imagine they would repaint her and then sell right after.

There is a B-17 in storage at the Le Bourget Museum, but as I know not in flying condition.

Yes thanks.

It's in a national collection - not for sale.

Hi all

sorry to upset our cousins across the pond but it is well known in the warbird community that Steve is hell bent on getting a good 'flying' collection of each bomber type used in the Pacific theatre. B-17's played a significant role in the defense of Australia and have, until recently, been largely forgotten. I can assure you a B-17 will be arriving in Australia from the US of A within the next 10 to 18 months, provided all paper work and clearances are obtained that fit into this time frame.

on a personal note, I will certainly be there with my brownie to take the necessary snaps of this great aircraft returning to Australia. Lets hope the AWM doesn't get involved otherwise it could end up back o/s for half the price - just kidding - taking a swipe at a previous bomer blunder here.

There are really too many on the airshow and ride circuit in the U.S. for the amount of revenue available. I predict he is buying a "good one" that has been brought up to flying status and been flying a while.
In the current world economy it wouldn't make sense to forgo buying a good "flyer" for a project airplane.

Perhaps NASM will sell their ex-tanker once they get Shoo Shoo Baby
when she get replaced at the NMUSAF by the real Belle (and Swoose)?

Hope so... the NASM doen't need to keep an airworthy B-17 out of sight in storage for another few decades.
