This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Peter , I did think about the UK before I did the first post but my own reckoning it wasn't in the running
Happy to be proven wrong

Dang Texans!
They got their own navy, what do they need all the warbirds for?
Sat Jun 20, 2009 10:22 am
Our own Air Force.

So who wins the most number of warbirds between Texas and California ?
California!

I think if you put the Freidken and Lewis collections together you have a pretty healthy number there alone.
Think about the number of F7Fs, Bearcats and P-38s in Texas.....just between those two.

CAPFlyer wrote:Peter, I think there are more warbirds in Texas alone than in all of England. I think North Texas would be very close to being the Warbird Capital on its own with no less than 8 museums (4 or 5 of them flying museums) in the D/FW area alone, not to mention dozens that are privately owned and flown.

...and Texas is a state of the USA and Duxford is a single small airfield.
Am I right the
Capital of Texas is ...Houston?
I sort of got the feeling that we were talking one location rather than a gerneral area.
Do you want to start talking historic aircraft per square mile?
I think you might be surprised.

Hi Peter , we'll call it a town or city for the WORLD capital competition.

Insults are
NOT nice...and I don't think they are allowed either.

Well...technically, Austin is the Capital! Houston is just a bit bigger by several factors. You realize this when it takes 3 or 4 hours to drive across Houston! Austin is full of Yankees, Yuppies and Hippies! (But I like the town anyways, I've got relatives there!!!)

The question was which town or city has the most warbirds based there for the title of unofficial titles of WARBIRD WORLD CAPITAL
It doesn't have to be an official capital city for a state (eg Austin for Texas)

I'm gonna go get some popcorn and a big iced tea and sit back in my recliner, watching all you guys peeing on the chairs and scratching the drapes should be the most free fun I've had since the city tried to shoo all the bums out of an old motel here in town!

I'd say, let's let the Brits win this one
You know, we beat them during the Revolutionary War, so let's them win this one.
So, Duxford it is.
It would be nice though, to do a count of warbirds in, let's say for example, oh.... what city? Houston? Then the problem is, to define Houston. Just Harris County? Or do we add all the other counties that are part of the metropolitan area?
And in any count, please -I better say, don't you dare to- do not forget the Brookshire International Air and SpacePort.
YeeehaaaaW!!

Tulio
