For those of you who are reading this thread and going, "HUH?", The Defender is a must see for anyone who likes airplanes, and for many who don't know a thing about airplanes. The only person I've ever heard of that didn't like the film was fellow WIXer, Mudge. Bless his heart.

But either way, this is a documentary that is like no other...and I bet Mudge would agree with that, right?

You know, after all that's been said, I would like to meet him sometime. Zane, is he still working in the Dallas area?

I just watched it, his hi-tech wings sure looked alot like a pair of Cessna wings, right down to the cabin air inlets............

There are reasons there are standards, and most of the reasons are written in blood. If you want to deviate from the standards, please let us know the date of the first flight so we can have the hamburger and hotdogs ready to grill over the wreckage............................oh and make sure you have full tanks so it will be a real hot fire..............

You first :D !

I have, I have built my own plane, engine and all, I have also restored several T-6s.

And you have done ?

Okay, Im watching this now and I gotta say, what a documentary! Boy warbird restorations and fighter design sure isn't like this today!
Those crazy Canadians! I also have to admit, he seems quite ingenious. And even though he may have had some unorthodox methods of restoring aircraft, those aircraft are still around today to be restored correctly by others. Or has some of his aircraft crashed over the years?

Ahhh, good catch. Most folks don't realize it on the first go around, that after alllllll of that testing of a new "extraordinary" wing design, that he ended up using the components from a Cessna 180 or 182, including the engine, wings, and I think even the rudders were Cessna.

Watching The Defender is kind of like looking at one of those 3D pictures that is hidden amongst a bunch of red, purple, and blue dots......the more you look at it, the more you see (although, I must admit, I never can see what's in those dang 3D pictures). :-)
