Another flight this afternoon saw me head to the airfield quickly This time she was up with the Wirraway and Mustang doing formation flights.

What can I say but WOW!!!!

In regards to what is interchangeable with the Boomerang and Wirraway - very little. True, the design brief at CAC was to use as many Wirraway parts as possible, but just about everything was strengthened and/or modified. Even the wheels were modified to try to reduce the drum brakes fading - these wheels are now extremely rare to find in airworthy condition. I am pretty sure that this aeroplane has a much modified Harvard Mk IV wing centre section, new build wing outer panels, but otherwise its all Boomerang. The fuselage frame has been modified to take a second seat and it is definitely not a T6 frame. In regards to handling quailities of the Boomerang, I have been reliably informed that is very similar to the P-40 - especially the ailerons, which are real nice. A couple of guys I have spoken to that have flown the Spitfire, Mustang and Kittyhawk have all said that for handling, especially roll rate, you can't go past the P-40.

Matt was also involved with the construction of several sets of Authentic Boomerang Wings, of Which one set were done for Kermit Weeks.
