While prop shape does enhance performance in different realms of flight there is also certification with either the the military or with the FAA.
That often is why something is the way it is.
Unless a process to gone thru that requires engineering and test flying, ect it isn't legal to make such a swap.
Aero Union probably selected an engine/prop combo when certifying the aircraft for it's role in fire fighting.

Taking a wild guess here. I would say the engines are R2800CB16's and propellers are ex-DC6 - cheap (relatively) and reliable. Most R2800 warbirds flying today (Corsairs, Thunderbolts) have CB16's fitted. The original 2800's can be difficult to support.
