I agree, Django. I thought they were sure different looking in that scheme. Would be neat to see Ol 927 or the Collings bird in Navy colors just for one season, even in the movie wax paint. Would sure tell a different (and mostly forgotten) story of WWII. I found those photos looking in that last group on the website. I'm sure there are more, those are just what I found in 15 minutes of looking.

Be aware that some number of those photos are reversed!

I've seen the site before about a year ago and was quite amused with a few of the pictures.

Yeah Ryan, I caught the Blue Angels in the Panthers with the US Navy painted backwards. Someone must have wanted to go home early for the weekend. I didn't look close enough at the few others I saw.
