In the Aug. 84 issue there is mentioning of Dr. Rodney Barnes P-51D N51SL being restored by Bruce Goessling of Unlimited Aircraft. In a later issue there is talk of an upcoming first flight by Steve Hinton, and in an early 1986 report the finished product had been delivered to Barnes by Fred Sebby the previous christmas.
If Dr. Barnes was a dentist, I remember him and the plane. I think he only flew it a few times (once from Chino that I was personally aware of- he cut me off in the pattern with the tower yelling at him, I guess forgetting that Chino was tower controlled) and then sold it. Probably saved his life. If it wasn't Dr. Barnes, my apologies.
