My wife and I went to the 1940s Hangar Dance out at the Military Aviation Museum (yes, that's the name of the facility now) on Valentines Day, and Chris Vtipil told me about this. He said their goal was essentially to create the same sort of atmosphere as the Reading show, which I think is just fantastic... there are a lot of folks in the southern VA/NC area who are very enthusiastic about being able to take part in this sort of thing, myself included.

And just because I can, here's a shot of us at the hangar dance:

I'm the one on the left. :)

Not to mention MCAS Beaufort, SC is ALSO that weekend. Those 3 shows will probably hold down attendance at the Fighter Factory show except for locals and hard core fans of the types of WWII and WWI airplanes that may be flying there that weekend.

I wish them the best.

MMMMMMM Jim C. brings up a good point. Jet noise or the pleasant roar of big rounds with a change of pace to the music of Alisons and Merlins? No choice here, at least for me.

Looking at a 13 hour drive one way for me, well worth it to see this collection. Any news of visiting aircraft?

Maybe... depends on what the City does with their property assessments. :)

(No, it doesn't fly, but the engine is operational)

Someone over on ASB sent FF an email and here's what's flying:

P-51 Mustang
Hurricane
P-40 Warhawk
Spitfire
AD Skyraider
TBM Avenger
FG-1 Corsair
B-25 Mitchell
PBY Catalina
PT-17 Stearman
Tiger Moth
Chipmunk
L-5 Sentinel
SNJ Texan

A B-17 and Sea Fury may fly but not during the waivered times.
