*Bump*

While on the subject of Jimmy Stewart, we watched a portion of "Rear Window" last night on TCM and noticed that there were WWII era aircraft and associated photos on the walls of his apartment. One of the photos looked a lot like someone in a Mae West standing in front of a Mosquito. My question is: could that photo be of Major Stewart during his time in Great Britain? There were a lot of RAF/AAF officers that went on Ops with their opposite numbers to see how things were done, and I thought it possible that he got a trip in a Mosquito.

Bringing this old thread back - with a solution.

Recently watched 'Rear Window' again (great film) and thanks to stop frame on DVD and being on the case (thanks to Mrs JDK's extensive patience)...

Jimmy Stewart's character is a crewman in a two-crew bomb-aiming aircraft. The cop friend is the other crewman, and some of their banter is about their war service.

The payoff is that the photo on the wall is of two men in front of a 'Droop Snoot' P-38...

Have a look at the film to see for yourself!

Nice to have a 'solved' puzzle.

I'm glad you were able to clear that up, James! I had missed a good bit of the movie and just caught the photo for a second or two. It all makes sense now, and I love that the details fit together in the plot.
