Sorry no color pictures at this time. My view is that everyone shoots in color. I like my pictures to be a little different. so use your imagination?

These are great!

Again, great shots! I can only imagine what that sounded like.

Mind if I asked what camera & lens you're using? I'm in the market for a new digital slr.

I use a Cannon AE-1 and some lens that has no name, it's 58mm. Thanks for the kind words, I greatly appreciate them! I've been kicking around the idea of getting a digital, but have been riding the fence on this. It is a pain is the ass to get my pictures developed, scanned, saved and transferred but I really like the old 35mm.

Digital is definitely the way to go. Like you, I shot film for a long time, approximately 25 years. I shudder to think of all the huge amounts of money that I wasted in developing costs alone. That is VERY expensive! In the equivalent of less than a dozen rolls of film shot, you can save the cost of paying for a digital camera. Once you go digital, you will never go back. You're right, film is very, very expensive and a real PITA to work with. With digital, it is so easy to manipulate with Photoshop or other digital editing software. Digital cameras are so inexpensive now, that even the "cheapie" ones for less than $ 200 shoot better pictures than both my Canon and Nikon 35 mm SLR film cameras.

Go digital, you won't regret it! :D

I'm not so certain, I bought a FUJI FINEPIX S1000 10meg that I'm about ready to use as a wheel chock! My little cheapo HP 735 PHD (push here dummy) takes better pictures and I can pan and follow things like FHC's fly bys where the FUJI blurs or won't react fast enough no matter where I have the apeture or exposures set (and I've read the comic book manual that came with it several times). And something in the on line program won't allow me to E mail directly from the separate FUJI program to my ISP E mail even tho all the pictures are in the same archive and I have no issues with printing them @ my desk, the FUJI photoshop is pretty crude and not terribly flexible, all in all, a dissapointment for the money wasted.
Heck I got better picutres for 25 years with the all manual FUJI 35 I gave to 262crew, he uses it as back up.
The I-16 is really neat as it's got 9 itty bitty short stacks and sounds like an alcohol dragster snapping and popping and farting like a Whirlwind J-6 on steriods, the 109's engine has an odd, ringing undertone like a bell that we can only surmize comes from the location and design of the supercharger and plenum as the tone goes up or down depending on the power setting being used.

Inspector, that's too bad you had bad experiences with your FUJI. I don't know what to tell you, other than it is probably a fluke. I've had about 12 different digital cameras over the years since they came out, and I've been very happy with all of them. About the only advice I could offer is to stay with brand names. Yea, I know FUJI is a brand name, maybe you just had a lemon!

Yes, the I-16 is quite a sight and a neat little airplane. Several years ago, I was fortunate enough to see two of them in formation, along with the I-153. The I-16's engine (Ash-82?) sounds a lot like an -1820, I thought. What a neat little airplane. In talking to pilots that fly it, I've heard that it can be kind of squirrely on the ground due to the fact that it is so short-coupled.

Here are a few photos from that:

That's too bad. I have a Fuji S5600 (our fourth Fuji camera) and while it's no DSLR or SLR, I've had no problem getting it to do what I need, including photos for publication to magazine spread size. A quick look at the spec of the 1000 looks not that different to the 5600. I don't get all the shots I should, but I don't miss too many either. All I can suggest is to maybe have a chat with someone using similar kit?

The free software you get is always useless IMHO - never use it. (Its like the free tools you get with self-assembly items...) I'm on a Mac so I use shareware Graphic Converter. Invest in some kind of proper image manipulation software - whatever camera you use, it's worth it, and it'll remain useful if you change.

HTH.

And 262 - they're your photos, you please yourself. Thanks for sharing.
