I'm not so certain, I bought a FUJI FINEPIX S1000 10meg that I'm about ready to use as a wheel chock! My little cheapo HP 735 PHD (push here dummy) takes better pictures and I can pan and follow things like FHC's fly bys where the FUJI blurs or won't react fast enough no matter where I have the apeture or exposures set (and I've read the comic book manual that came with it several times). And something in the on line program won't allow me to E mail directly from the separate FUJI program to my ISP E mail even tho all the pictures are in the same archive and I have no issues with printing them @ my desk, the FUJI photoshop is pretty crude and not terribly flexible, all in all, a dissapointment for the money wasted.
Heck I got better picutres for 25 years with the all manual FUJI 35 I gave to 262crew, he uses it as back up.
The I-16 is really neat as it's got 9 itty bitty short stacks and sounds like an alcohol dragster snapping and popping and farting like a Whirlwind J-6 on steriods, the 109's engine has an odd, ringing undertone like a bell that we can only surmize comes from the location and design of the supercharger and plenum as the tone goes up or down depending on the power setting being used.
Inspector, that's too bad you had bad experiences with your FUJI. I don't know what to tell you, other than it is probably a fluke. I've had about 12 different digital cameras over the years since they came out, and I've been very happy with all of them. About the only advice I could offer is to stay with brand names. Yea, I know FUJI is a brand name, maybe you just had a lemon!
Yes, the I-16 is quite a sight and a neat little airplane. Several years ago, I was fortunate enough to see two of them in formation, along with the I-153. The I-16's engine (Ash-82?) sounds a lot like an -1820, I thought. What a neat little airplane. In talking to pilots that fly it, I've heard that it can be kind of squirrely on the ground due to the fact that it is so short-coupled.
Here are a few photos from that:
