Can someone give me the name of the one who posted the "anti" message. You can either post it here or send it to me by PM. Is it someone that also writes on WIX? When I went to Aerovintage, I couldn't find it. To me, freedoom of speech and print is almost sacred. If someone writes something below normal standards, the site can delete it. However, they can also leave it on the site and let others judge the writer. One problem with WIX is that they let people hide behind an alias, the web name, without identifying in any way who they are. I think if you are going to write something, be straight enough to use your name. Many WIX members like Jack Cook are not ashamed about being known. I think it would be better if you could read as a stage name, but had to use their own name to post.

It is illegal to threaten someone, especially a Pres or Pres elect. Also there are laws against KNOWINGLY saying or righting false things to harm someone. There have been court decisions that websites are not liable for the content posted by others.

It seems to me

I knew this type of stuff would pop up somewhere, but I hoped it wouldn't be someplace that educated people frequent, like another warbird forum. It's sad.

The first rule of message boards is that someone will get pissed off at one message board and go to another message board to whine and complain about the first message board.

Long live WIX.

Agreed. C'mon guys. Lets not let another forum worry us. It's their problem not ours. As Steve McQueen once said in "The War Lover"..."thats not gonna happen to use. Not while I'm flying this bucket". :D

I was rather surprised to read of a repeating theme of "WIX bashing" against the WIX site generally, and "un-named" WIX forumites so all of us by inference?, certainly not a way to win friends and influence people?

Mr. Sheppard was one of the first of those I was forced to ban, and that was well over a year ago. We have over 7000 members and in any group of individuals you have people that have to spoil it. I am generally far too lenient and forgiving when it comes to banning so if you actually do get banned from my site you most certainly deserved it. All you have to do is look at a few of Mr. Sheppards posts and it is obvious why he was banned.

Unfortunately it has popped up here, though behind the scenes in e-mails. The ignorance of certain individuals sickens me at times and they have been put on a watch list, they have been given one strike. Three strikes and your outta here.

In the coming weeks I will be recruiting several additional moderators. I will also be issuing yellow cards to those individuals who are in danger of being banned. Get a red card and your gone.

I have recently been issued a new computer at work so I will be able to check the forum at lunchtime, hopefully this will allow me to increase my presence on the forum.

It has been stated numerous times before so I will leave it at this, if someone says something stupid, let them be stupid by themselves, don't join in. If they say something offense, PM a moderator or myself.

We can all get along without my having to get overly heavy handed.

What's wrong Bill, can't pronounce "bdk"? I didn't use an alias to hide my identity. With some of the original boards you had to type in your name every time so I used an abbreviation. I carried over that abbreviation to subsequent boards so others would know I was the same guy. Additionally, I'm not sure I want my name plastered all over the internet (Google searches, etc.). I don't really seek that kind of publicity. If anyone really wants to know my name that badly they can PM or e-mail me, or just ask some of the dozens of WIXers I've met.

There is no conspiricy to be found in my user name at least, nor would there be with a name like "SpitfireMkXIV" that might indicate a member's favorite plane. It is very insulting for you to insinuate that all members that don't use their full name are hiding something. There are really only a very few with malicious intent that do so and they tend not to last long.

On my old forum I always suggested that everyone used their real name. We never had any problems with posters being rude or anything like that so thats why I suggested it. But its fine if a user does not want to use their real name. I don't look at it as a way to hide themselves if they dont want to. Sometimes its as simple as wanting to pick out a cool nick name. Instead of Nathan I almost went for "Sky_Captain". But I kept to my ideas of using my real name.

anyway sorry for the worthless post.

Boy,

on the note of using real names or not.... I just used the username I have used all over the internet. Daveymac was a nickname I had in highschool and I figured it would work for the internet too. I am certainly not affraid of letting people know my identity. If I could go back I think I'd change my username to "David McIntosh."

Anywho, let's not worry about this thing anymore. Like Scott says, "Keep your eyes open for offensive posts and let a moderator know when something happens." If we refrain from shooting back at posts you disagree with (especially if it has to do with politics), then it does not give fuel to the fire.

Deep Breath in, deep breath out..... ahh........

Let's talk about warbirds.

Cheers,

David McIntosh

gary1954 -------is actually Gary in real life, the 1954 is how old I am, and since there may be a mathmatically challenged person in forum, I am 54 visit profile or pm for anything else ya may wanna know about. I am not a big time author, tax guy, lawyer, or pilot, but I can fly the Knutts off a Huey, I'm not a doctor but I did actually play one on TV in a real live television commercial. I am not interested in politics, other than bending the arm of the Navy to let our aircraft go. Politics sucks. Our Forum is Aviation, all aspects to include dealing with the NTSB, the FAA, and a whol lot of other goverment alphabet orgaizations many of us know nothing about. We know about airplanes, screw the rest of the c r a p and lets talk, and show airplanes.

offer void where prohibited by law. Batteries not included.

A common theme around the world is everyone has opinions. It can get bad though when people mistake forums as thier own personal soap box to be ranting lunatics though. The people who get satisfaction in generating selfish commentary on forums are 1) missing the whole point of the focus of the forums and 2) are being forum trolls. Don't feed the trolls by even acknowledging thier threads. PM a mod and don't waste the time to post in that kind of thread because it'll most likely get deleted. Engaging a troll in debate is a bad move, because they think it gives them liscense to actually be an ass even more. The way I see it, with freedom comes responsability for what you do and say. Some people just don't get that they're accountable for what they spew. Just my general 2 cent about forum ranters.
