Also met -briefly- Ryan Short. I made a faux-pas when I bought a book from his friend, and took with me what I thought was a brochure.
Luckily, Ryan pursued me -gun in hand- and everything was soon settled to the satisfaction of the gun-toting party : ) Sorry about that, Ryan.
Saludos,

Hey Tulio,
I was hoping you'd post here! I wanted to apologize about that whole thing. I knew you didn't mean to do it and fought with myself for a minute or two about whether or not to say something - especially to a fellow WIXer. Anyhow, the business side of me got the better of my judgment. For the record that wasn't a real gun and it WAS NOT in my hand! It was a blank firing .45 that I got to use some during the TORA show on the ground with the reenactors and it stayed holstered. I hope you weren't too bothered

.
As it was, my attitude wasn't what it should've been for an airshow as I was VERY annoyed watching folks pay for signed photos of the guy kissing the girl on VJ day - and we - maybe 5 items the whole day! Talk about misplaced priorities. Not to say anything bad about him, but I don't think the guy even really saw combat and folks were just swooning over there where my vet was daily landing right behind enemy lines to rescue wounded soldiers, flying combat photographers over enemy territory at low level, and all kind of other stuff, and folks hardly gave a care.
The brochure Tulio was talking about was something I put together last week to try and educate folks about the L-birds and hopefully elevate the story of these guys who flew into combat zones unarmed except for their .45s. We sold all of TWO of them (So yours was doubly special Tulio!) so I learned a lesson on business ventures as well...
One thing that did make me happy was actually getting to talk to Mr. Hinton and Mr. Pardue - who were both really gracious, and Mr. Rieder - (who gave what my sisters said was the best airshow announcing job they'd heard). That was funny because we were really having a slow time in the autograph tent and I had just short of a bet with a guy about whether or not I could make it to the announcers area to see if they would mention the tent. To make a long story short, before I was done I got to go up there briefly to deliver the message! That was pretty cool, and the guys up their were cordial to what must've been quite the odd intrusion. They DID mention it shortly thereafter, which was quite nice.
Ryan
