I am just now able to lift my jaw off the poop deck! ABSOLUTLY FABULOUS! It is just great that the absolute heart of a Corsair is now being built new. I think that most all of the projects, and eventually even the flyers will need these built new, due in part to less than perfect heat treating in the 40's.

Mr Lanes, and his crew's work is legendary. Over the last few years I have gotten to know John Lane and find him to be a trusting and, trustworthy person to deal with. This can be rare in this buisiness. Congratulations!

Great thread, amazing pictures. I did a little work on Ray Adams's corsair center section back in the day, very minor stuff like paint stripping. That is exciting stuff to see. I remember seeing a Willys Motors tag on the center section of his corsair. I suppose they were one of the subcontractors for the Goodyear corsairs. Best of luck on restoration. I was just admiring Angel of Okinawa on saturday at FoF. What an beautiful machine.

Did I hear or read that the Angel of Okinawa's spar was bent in a hurricane?
