All I can say is, if you go, be sure to buy a pit pass. You might as well not go if you don't go through the pits. Just my $.02 worth.

I would second that. If you plan on being there the whole time, it may be worthwhile to get a "fan pass" which gives you general admission and access to the pits for all days. And like someone else said, be prepared to spend lots of money as they don't allow coolers and the concessions (which are way better than the used to be) are expensive.

If you haven't got reservations for a place to stay by now, you'd better get real busy; and good luck :)

You might as well forget a reservation this late in the game. In fact, there probably won't be any available. The way most good hotels in Reno work during race week, is that you can only reserve the room in 4 day blocks - Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sun. If you plan on staying less than 4 days, don't even bother. In fact, I've been going to Reno for about 16 years and have never made a room reservation and have never been left out in the cold. Just show up at the hotel on the day you want to stay. It turns out that because of the hotels having such strict reservation guidelines, that a LOT of people either cancel their reservation or never show up. You may have to go to 2 or 3 hotels, but when the hotel staff sees you there in the lobby to get a room and how it would be an easy fill for them to occupy a room, they will almost always have at least one or two available from the cancellations/no-show. This technique has worked for me for the past 16 years and I've always had a place to stay. On the other hand, though, I've never stayed more than 3 days at a time there. If you want to stay 4 or more days, you will have had to make a reservation at least 6 months previously.

Take warm clothes, in 2006, the year we went it was 40F with wind on Friday and then 78F on Sunday. W froze on Friday.

Reserve Grandstand seats for Sunday.
Agree on the pit pass.
