This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Michel,

I worked with Doug Vernon on the Zero at the SDASM about 25 years ago. I doubt that he's still around there, but I did find an email address from 2002. I'll PM it to you.

Do you mean you are trying to obtain that, or that you already have it?

All related when I posted these:

I was in contact for a while with a person............

Thanks for the info, Michel! I've been dreaming of watching video and/or film footage of the Ki-84 for years! If you ever get it, let me know, as I am DEFINITELY interested in obtaining a copy. Sorry, I can't help you and don't have any info. :(

LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES!! That was fun hearing all those little short stacks popping and snapping-are there any B-25 types reading this? a full set of Claytons would do the trick!!!

Yes, the RATA sounds awesome! It reminded me of the T-28, very 1820-ish! I was lucky enough to see two of them plus an I-153 in formation some years ago. There are very distinctive sounding!

I was told that there are no plans to run the long-nose

Some time ago, I read a comment on a forum from someone at Gosshawk that said they had hoped to do a few engine runs before the aircraft was moved and sold but there wasn't time. Too bad.

The MotoBende website hasn't been updated since 2006 and I had hoped they would finish the Jumo213 they had in overhaul and perhaps film some test runs. I don't know if the cancellation of the D9 project they were assisting with had anything to do with it, but I will assume so. Externally, the engine looked pristine. They were finishing a couple of Jumo 211s as well.

There is one Jumo 211 under rebuild for a ground running display. so maybe a 213 will follow. It will be nice to hear one of these marvels of engineering roar to life again one day.

DoraNineFan, do you know whom bought the MotoBende 190D project ?

Tks.

The video I shot of the Fw engine run has been converted to a digital data disc. I'll have someone local edit the engine run portion to an appropriate length and get it posted.

The engine is running pretty rough and it was a real challenge for the crew to get started, but that was half the fun of the event.

I don't know for certain. The project was halted at the customer's request according what I've read in the past.

But if I were to take a guess, I believe it ended up as the D-9 project in the Vormezeele collection/BAHAAT.

Anyone on here who knows which sub type of Jumo 213 is fitted to the D-13? Is it he one fitted to the airframe when new or has another engine been substituted?

Jumo 213E.

I believe it has the same engine that it was surrendered with.
