That doesn't quite fit the "historically inaccurate" definition. After Israel's War of Liberation in 1948, Ezer Weizmann was able to keep a Spitfire as his personal plane. He painted it black, and IIRC, flew it well into 1970s before it was grounded for safety reasons. Looks like someone took the time to give it some TLC and get it back running agian.

"Jeannie", 1984. Yes, I am a minimalist. Less is more to me.

I agree, how can a civil/race scheme be considered "inaccurate".

Where's Jack with pics of blue mustangs?

My much smarter older brother, the so-called 'Walking Encyclopedia of Air Racing' wanted me to pass that this is not 'Jeannie', but the 'Leeward Air Ranch Special'.

Same airplane. Different name.

The Forum's favourite Spitfire...

...but Brown and Green, should never be seen, with Type C1 roundels. :)

INaccurate but that is exactly what the then owner Don Plumb wanted.

1972.

Thanks for setting the record straight, Randy. I knew she had been Jeannie at some point but that was three years earlier. That airframe has had quite a post-war history!
