I actually liked Axemen simply because it was filmed in NW Oregon near where we use to live and I enjoy the scenic views. I also had a cousin who was killed while logging so it gave me a basic understanding of the process. Now on with the next show Milkmen-Garbagemen-Postmen  :?

Well actually, that is "Dirty Jobs" on the "Discovery Channel" or the "Circus Bike Building Family That Yells Alot Channel!"

I am glad that other channel is showing old Rat Patrol, Combat and Twelve O'Clock High Episodes! And thank the Heavens for BBC America and Top Gear!

Cancellation really ticked me off also! I know COL "Bud" Anderson, the well-known WWII P-51 ace, and it was the episode with him that got me hooked on "Dogfights".

Yesterday I wrote to A&E (History Channel's parent) and expressed my disgust about their current programming that has nothing to do with history. UFOs, monsters, ice truckers and such will not teach anyone about our history. A subject especially lacking in our young people.

Go to the A&E homepage and try the "contact us" link. You can write your message there. I actually received a reponse that it was being forwarded to their management.

I'd always hoped there'd be a show about pilots ... like Deadliest Catch or guys who rebuild airplanes ... like American Chopper. But I think I've finally realized that, in aviation, we go so far out of our way to make the dangerous safe and the difficult look easy so that we are (in all our excitement) basically boring as far as the public is concerned. EAA tried "From the Ground Up" and it was so-so. Anybody remember Neil Armstrong's "First Flights"? What a humble guy - I soaked up every minute.

Anyway - I know someone, somewhere has the talent and $ to pitch the right show to Discovery ... but who is it!?!
