This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Nathan: I don't know if anyone's ever done a kit of the Vengeance in 1/48, but there are two kits in 1/72. An old, fairly simple one by french (re-released by several other companies, including Revell of Germany, Smer, and I think Eastern Express) and a newer one by Special Hobby..it's kind of expensive, but had a nicely detailed resin cockpit. Unfortunately, like many "limited run" kits, it has a vacu-form canopy, and no locating pins or tabs.

U.S. Air Force photos
The original design called for a zero-degree incidence to improve dive bombing performance at steep attacking angles. This, however, required the aircraft to be flown in a slightly nose high attitude during normal flight thus restricting the pilot's forward visibility.

I would love for one of these to one day end up in Dayton somehow.

Great Shot, kenlyco! Thanks for posting. AP123 was one of a batch of 500 Vengeances built for the RAF and delivered between Oct 42 and Feb 43, mostly to the Far East by sea. Wonder why they were painted with stars? AP124 just could be one of the ones in these photos as she went to 110 Sqdn in India. 110 took part in the Burma Campaign, having converted from Blenheims to Vengeances in Oct 42, and then to Mosquitoes in November 44. These 110 shots were taken in India but I don't know where.
Scores of Vengeances were salvaged at RAF Hawarden, North Wales just after the war, having served with UK-based RAF target towing squadrons. I have a poor photo somewhere showing them lined up waiting for the chop.
Just realised I've forgotten how to post images from PhotoBucket. Doh! Watch this space.

110 Sqdn Vengeances in India with aircrew.
Note the Indian ladies and the European (English?) ones the guy in the pith helmet (not the sexiest of headgear) is trying to impress.

Apologies everyone. I have just found out that all the photos are there but you have to scroll sideways to find them. Don't know how I managed to do that. I have been successful before. Will just have to read the posting pics thread more carefully before my next attempt.
