Welcome aboard P.B.! Hope you find out what your mystery aircraft is. The way you described it I think it may have been a Piaggio P.180 Avanti. :?

The Piaggio sounds like one of those RC aircraft... but louder.

You can always hear them coming and going... very strange sound.

No it was a single engine for sure. And I know I heard a piston engine. Thanks anyway.

Speaking of flying over, the Collings B-24 made a pass over Six Flags Great America just as I was arriving at work. I so wanted to be up there flying in the Liberator. Maybe next time.

A mall ninja is someone who is talks like he knows everything, but the more he talks, the more it shows he knows nothing, and he is to dumb to know it.

Muddy, Muddy, Muddy, why would you want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane? 8) Some greater good, perhaps? 8)

I always thought of it as escaping an out of control vehicle which was being propelled through space and time by it's own insane, misbegotten belief that it's movements through the air were anything but random...You mean there was a PURPOSE in all that grinding and bouncing and bucking and general mayhem? The guys up front must have known more than me :P

The folks at the sky diving facility in San Marcos, TX have a sign over their door that proclaims "there is no such thing as a perfectly good airplane!".

If one flew over your house, that would really be something to see.
