These are nothing short of GORGEOUS, Rich. Would you have any more shots of that F9F-5P that the fellow is leaning on? Those things are rare as hen's teeth...
Lynn
I'll have my Uncle go through his slides for more Panther shots, but there's nothing more in the bunches that I've scanned in the past few months. Here's some more general stuff:

Rich
Do you happen to know which carrier is in the shot?
BK
Most likely the Hornet. He's got a few shots of it at anchor.

Here's a Panther shot that needs a lot more clean-up, but for now:

Awsome pics! Thanks for posting.
All Kodachrome 64 I believe, taken with an Argus C3.
Oh, man..that was how I got my start. My dad picked up an old Argus Brick when he was in the army in the '50s, and he passed it along to me when I was a teenager. When I first started out, I shot slides because they were cheaper to have processed than prints (and both took a week!) I shot tons of pics with the old thing, until somebody stole it from my glovebox in 1985.

Great pictures Rich, thanks for sharing them with us. Anyone know what the modification to the TBF/TBM is? That is the first picture I have seen of one with the turret removed and a canopy installed in it's place.

Gotta' be COD (pretty common post-war conversion, actually).

It's a TBM-3U being used for target towing. Note the guy in back facing rearwards. The TBM-3R COD was similar in appearance, but it had bunches of seats inside.

Yes, and as a side note, Ray Stutsman used my uncle's shots to accurately mark his SNJ upon rebuild after it had suffered an engine failure around Oshkosh-time, I'd say around 1983 or so.
