Paint it..

I remember Mark Hanna deciding to polish OFMC's T33, after he spent the better part of 2 hours just getting 1sq ft to shine & realising just how many sq ft of metal there is in a T33 he gave up on the idea completely ...

You know, the body filler extruding through the holes in the skin really holds it in there!

there may have been a canuk service instruction somewhere that said that was a approved repair or is there a chance that the wing came from a farm in the Manitoba area, owned by a guy named Bob diemert ?

Change the skin if your going to polish it! I would have a good look inside there to see if there isn't any other damage! I would turn the guy in if I found a name in the log book.. I going threw something like that now with someone... I think the fed is going to give him a letter of concern.

Polishing advice? Don't.

That is some pretty special repair they had going there.

Well, just stripping the paint is yielding lots of info on the previous history of this NOS wing. Yes, it is NOS, but it is not undamaged. We'll see what it looks like with all the paint off next weekend. There was some additional (post Bondo) damage that needs to be addressed too. I think it will be limited to only changing 4 skins though! :? :x  Four hundred bucks and some time ought to fix it. The other wing needed 3 skins and some ribs, so this one really isn't too much worse, although the leading edge is more daunting to change than the flat skins.
