If he has some more in Tucson I wouldn't be surprised, I saw a yard there that must have had at least 60 of them (from what I could see from the road)...........

These must the ones transported by road from Chandler Memorial in the last year?

We're looking for a static H-34 project if anyone happens to know of one that might be available in/near FL or GA!

There is a H-34 here in Pigeon Forge. It was part of a Hellicopter museum that closed its doors. Currently it sits off the exit on I-40. Looks really good from the road and it has been listed on Ebay twice.

Thanks! I have been in touch with the owner, who did seem interested in helping us out. This bird would be ideal as I'm only a few hours away from Pigeon Forge, but I've not heard anything from him for a few weeks now - so I'm looking to see what else might be out there!

Owyeah, they also had the Airwolf replica right? Now that's one that should be in a museum!

All of the H34s in Tucson used to be at Bob's Airpark across from Pima. When he died and the yard was sold, the new owners started cleaning out the old stuff. They began to sell off the 34s but sales were slow and time was short. They began to cut the price drastically and if I remember it right it went something like this. Originally 5,000.00 ea, then 2500.00 ea, then they dropped it to 1500.00, finally it was buy one get one free ! They were all finally acquired by Jack of Jack's Surplus and moved down the backroad around the corner. Jack also has a large yard full of all kinds of stuff and the yard next to the H34s is full of all kinds of Dueceand a halfs in all kinds of configurations.

DoD won't scrap any of these, they don't own them and probably haven't since the 70s.

Most of the ones still doing commercial work as described are all turbine conversions.

In the 1980's there was a company that was going to build large dirigibles for commercial purposes. The design was going to have a large airship center and have four welded tubular type arms that would have a pod on each arm . The design was going to use H-34 center sections complete with engines and rotor blades at the end of each arm.
The purpose of these airships were to be super heavy lifting and logging applications. The prototype crashed and the company ran out of money. Maybe these H-34's were purchased and held on reserve for this endeavour, IIRC.

That's a good looking bird you guys have there!

Would a P/N for the launcher help you out? We just recently had 3 boxes of H-34 manuals donated to us, I can look it up in the parts catalog if it will help!

Unfortunatly those aren't mine. Those are the one preserved at Koksijde AB and the last one is the one in the Royal Belgian military museum.
I'm just a private collector looking for one of these launchers to add to my collection. I have the flight manuals, but no part manuals. Would be nice if you could find a P/N :D Althought I've only seen these launchers on Belgian S-58/HSS1 sikorsky's
BTW, about these hulks. What's the normal price for an instrument panel of one of these?

They turn up on eBay occasionally, don't remember what I paid but that's where I got this one. Short of an actual H-34 by then, the panel will be part of a new display on Air America H-34's, specifically SAR operations at the next Tico airshow (just look for our C-123!) I'm still lacking all the gauges in case anyone wants to "donate some to the cause!"
