Using "GOD" to explain why things are happening is best left to us "conservatives".

Why would anyone in there right mind want to ruin a perfectly good airplane by putting something as nasty as an in-line engine on it????
Oh, the humanities!

Craig, you probably didn't know about the new TWO SEAT DUAL CONTROL GRIFFON POWERED SPITFIRE we are building. There is quite a waiting list for flight positions, so it is good to know you are one of the ones we do not have to think about putting on the list.

I could use my new ECO friendly toy to crop dust lead based pesticides at full afterburner, near a grade school, while I sat in the cockpit and watched pornos and read the Wall Street Journal and talked on my cell phone all at the same time.

You're my hero Eric.

I seriously considered using a Griffon, but in the end, I decided just to have my existing starter overhauled.

I don't think you'd have to go too far to find a better one. I mostly serve as a good example of a bad example. But it is FUN!

Bill,
Just think what you could do to help stimulate the economy here in America if you chose to use a 2800 or even a 3350 on the Spit. You would be using an American made engine instead of a British (no offense to the Brits mind you Bristol did make some fine engines), you would be spending more in gas (which would help those poor guys working in the oil fields and the refineries), plus the manufacturers of shop rags and cleaning supplies would be getting more of your business to help keep the sides clean. Also as a side bonus you would have an ultra rare aircraft. To me, it seems, it would be a win-win situation for you.

A very close friend of mine mentored me while I was getting my license (some time back). My instructor always said that he was an example of what NOT to do!

Now that I've seen the photos, time to paint my oil tank and it has to be exactly the same. Can I get a paint code please?

Hey! That might allow us non-bulemic folks a chance at some Spitfire dual after all.

You know Bill, Eric does own an MG, so he does have some association with water-cooled British powerplants.

Well, they are in for a real surprise then. The Skyraider oil tank was original painted with some awful looking wash primer. I thought about it long and hard and decided to paint the oil tank and Hyd tank yellow. No particular reason, I just thought it would look good. So next came the question of what color yellow. Very scientific process, I called the guy that painted my B4 stand that I just overhauled and said send over a quart of that exact same yellow. So Anoraks, have at it, it's towbar/mait stand yellow. And I think it's exactly the right shade. :D
