What about that red nosed F-86D/L in the background of photos #3? Any idea what became of this bird?

Jack, is this the same Ted Stewart I'm thinking of. The same one who tore up another A-26 some 20 years later?

Are we sure about this? I thought Stewart crashed the Collings A-26 (N8036E) in Illinois, and that Wally himself crashed the K model.

By what do you mean, "Soon to be destroyed"?

He means it was destroyed in a crash not long after the photo was taken

If it's the same aircraft the 404 was donated to the 1930s Tower Museum project in Houston. It is now parked down at Victoria Regional Airport plagued by severe corrosion.

Thanks- That was what my assumption became: I had alternately considered perhaps he was referring to the paint scheme itself, in favor of different markings. Sorry to hear it wasn't just a paint job issue...

Your S-51 or HO35-1G is N4927E from my photo at Chino, it has a bureau number of 51214 according to the FAA registry and USCG 1235 according to other sources. It is currently listed as on display at the Naval Museum.

I also believe your SNJ-5 is N3375G, bureau 90790. I have a picture of that a/c in front of the POF museum and it appears to be the same a/c as in your picture.
