This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Yes, it has helped answer questions about tech data for our restoration project.
Other info on other projects has been helpfull in learing ways to do things in general, or sometimes, what not to do!
Aside from the few issues of who is being picked on for saying something, I enjoy WIX and read most every day.

Oh another benefit I just remembered... BDK has kept the Scott Rose Memorial Library and Throne Room filled with reading and reference material for years now. It was the way I first found out your real name!

Wow! A legacy left in Scott's water closet...

Hopefully there aren't any others in there!
That reminds me of another benefit of the WIX, my aviation magazine subscription expenses have gone waaaaaay down. Still get Classic Wings and Warbirds Digest though, both the finest publications available!
Can't wait to meet you guys at the POF airshow in May!

Well...lemme think.
Youse troops have:
1) helped me roughly quadruple my knowledge about warbirds. (Which now makes me about 1/10th as knowledgeable as 99% of you.)
2) gave me the encouragement to start flying lessons. (A special thanks to those that donated valuable learning tools in the form of CDs and PMs with helpful tips.)
3) put up with my, often obtuse, sense of humor. (Whether you actually understood it or not.)
4) Posted the fantabulous pictures of aircraft that I would have never gotten to see otherwise.
I salute you all...

The connection through WIX to the members, their parts, their connections and knowledge have helped turn TEXAS RAIDERS around.
In fact I will answer by asking for help...
Does anybody have a link to the AMOC to the 2001-22-06 AD that EAA came up with for Aluminum Overcast?
That is one of the next pieces of the puzzle.
You can PM me with a reply, so as not to hijack the thread.
WIX and its members Rock!

What my wanker of a CFI used to tell me..."Keep the Blue side up and the green side down AND STAY OUT OF THE TREES!"
Good advice for almost ANY stage of your flying career!

Don,
This might be it:

No hijack... just info that some other WIXer might look for in the future.

Yes, the WIX has been an immensely pleasureably experience for me as my thirst for warbird info has been slaked. Like bdk, I have very few magazine subscriptions now that any warbird info or news will likely hit this forum within hours, instead of waiting the usual 2 to 3 months lagtime for a magazine.
My knowledge of warbirds has increased 1000% since reading this forum, and for that I appreciate everybody's individual efforts to supply information. This forum is like a giant clearinghouse for all worldwide warbird news. I just wish I had this back in the 70's and early 80's when I was growing up. It was so frustrating as a kid back then, as my only information source was from Air Classics magazine and the info I gleened from going to airshows. Winter times were particularly scant for info back then.

That's the AD itself. Spanner is looking for the Alternate Means of Compliance (AMOC) to the AD that was granted to the EAA for their plane. I'm not sure that the AMOC is a public record though as NATA is selling the AMOC for the T-6 attach angle inspection that they came up with.

I had heard my Dad talk about flying P-40's with a parrott on the nose since I was a kid. He had no pictures of that phase of training and I had never been able to find any P-40/Parrott pictures. And then one day Jack Cook posted the Napier shots, I showed them to Dad and he said 'that's it!' Thanks to Jack and everyone here for the most addictive website ever.

By the way, not hijacking anything... I just started the Historic Aviation Preservation group on LinkedIn and encourage any WIX member to join.
Go to:

It's a derivative of the WRG/WIX empire... we just opened it up to all of historic aviation for the benefit of all.
Another way WIX can help you in warbird business...

I say absolutely. It's gotten me more involved at the local level with the volunteering I'd already been doing and it got me in contact with a lot of other people who love warbirds just like me. It's been a place to feed my passion when I feel a bit of an ebb in the desire to push forward on a project (like the B-32 turret and it's unfortunately massive amounts of rust and siezed parts).
BTW, what's up with opening a Memorial library for Scott when he ain't dead yet? I thought we were outside the Beltway around here...

Most definitely.
Through WIX (Steve Dennis) I acquired my PT-19 project.
Through WIX (too many to mention) I have tracked and purchased parts for my project.
I have met several WIXers, and they have been kind to let me visit their businesses or the museums or a specific airplane, so that I can enjoy and photograph them.
WIX has provided me with a large amount of information on obscure research subject matters.
Yes, WIX has been positive and has been of great help.
The benefits outweigh the once-in-a-while hiccups that occur here, the same as they occur everywhere else in life.
Saludos,
Tulio
