Thanks for the kind words from all of you. I'm a bit humbled to find myself in this position. I'll do my best to get the organization that so many have worked so hard to build (including many of you on this board) in such good shape that it can survive and thrive for another 50 years.

As best as I can, in the position I find myself, I'll always answer questions in as forthright and honest a manner as possible. IMHO this board and particularly Gary Austin's efforts on it, have done more to increase awareness of the CAF and build good will than anything else we've done in many years. I hope I can continue to share insights and make comments about all things CAF.

I know that the honeymoon period will be brief: to Ober, ColdDaffeyDuck, CAPFlyer, Robbie, B-29driver, etc, I hope you decide to stay active or get active again. Eric, be careful what you wish for...I might have a committee assignment for you!

It promises to be an eventful year for the CAF: stayed tuned for more!

Old Shep

Bill, Old Shep, Congratulations, you are a brave man. Now here's a couple of requests. Midland has nice people and good Bar B Q, but it is a bit dusty for some of us. How about planting some nice Bermuda grass around the area? And maybe get rid of the rattlesnakes except for a small one or two to keep Gary from being lonely. Now if you think the "grass" idea is a bit much, wait till you get some of the other demands. Nobody ever said the average CAF guy lacks opinions. I'll send you a PM with a few genuine ideas.

If they had grass in Midland everybody would be trying to smoke it.

I thought that is why there is no grass, they already did smoke it.
