Which is the Coolest Mustang Model?

sorry guy, only gesting in fun here....... but i think the h- model looks like a liposuctioned super model babe who looked great before. :nuker:

i understand the developement strategy in the H model, but as for asthetic eye candy...... :vom:

Of course the best looking Mustang is any one I am riding in. I have never seen an ugly one, even the muddy red one that sat outside at Jeffco for years, or the one in the south that looked like it had been painted with a brush, because it had!
I never thought of the Cavalier D conversion withe tip tanks. That one does have a neat look. Just personally I really like the B/C model. I can't be sure whether I prefer the standard canopy or the Malcom hood. Next I prefer the D with the A behind that, something about that air intake above the engine seems off.

I'd had to say the RAF Mk. I Allison powered P-51 "A" models.

Besides they are faster than Spits.....The Brits said so themselves.

Shay, my question was about looks, not performance. The Brits did test the Allison and found it a good engine at low altitude. They considered using it to power their subway cars. Unfortunately the Germans refused to take the chunnel across and instead came over above 20,000.
As for speed max speed of my IX is listed in the pilot notes as Mach.85. Level speed is 416 for the high version and 406 for the low version. I have seen max dive speeds for 51 as listed as .80 or .82
Referring to the test by RAF at Boscombe Down Jan. 1942, P-51A max level speed of 370 at 15,000 feet, which was 13 mph faster than a Spitfire MkII( BOB model) and 4 mph slower than a Spit Mk V. The 51A climb rate was 1980 feet and ceiling 30,000. The test pilot's were complimentary of the ground handling of the 51, and of course the range. The Brits then put a Spitfire Rolls engine in the 51 and made the outstanding long range fighter of the war.

The Mustang MkI or A-36 is my favorite model of the Mustang. I like the two machine guns in the cowl under the engine, but the thing that really stands out for the A series 'stangs is it's beautiful cowling lines around the Allison. It was also a slightly thinner fuselage and to me looks more pleasing to the eye.
