White Lightning with Lefty at the helm. I only got to see him really ring it out once, but it was unforgettable.

It was at the OK City airshow several years ago (dont know which year), dad and i were in the T-6 doing our run-up at the end of the runway when all of a sudden a B-1B did a low pass. It started to pull up and turn. I thought it was going to do one of those high G turns, but it kept rolling and did a full Roll! it was amazing...

Without a doubt the rather modified Mustang Racer "Dago Red", at 3500 RPM and 140 inches of manifold pressure, from the base of pylon 8 at Reno, especially wing tip to wing tip with Rare Bear with the legendary 3 bladed P-3 propeller...

Heck, I've even seen it happen in the rain!?!

Seeing the Collings F-4 back in 2000 during the B-17 & B-24 visit to KVPZ was a thrill. It was my first and only time I've seen an F-4 in person.

All of them at OSH '95 that was a sight.

Fouga Magister. Had one fly over my head once, so low I had to duck!

The B-70 when she left Edwards for the last time on her way to Wright Pat...everybody on base was out to see her that day in the Spring of '69. The cooks came out of chowhall, all the clerks came out of personel. A gal I was dating who worked in the dental office said that even the patients came outside to witness that final display of power & sound. You could still hear it when she was 8-10 miles away.

Good, lord sir! That might take the cake.

You gents are killing me with the SR-71 fly bys. :(

Seeing Chino's P-38 with my dad, and the CWH Lancaster with my brother, and the Colling's Foundation Lib with both of them, are at the top of the list for me. I have only seen a Skyraider and a Hellcat once, at the MAAM W.W.II weekend. It was gray and rainy, so they did little flying but that was impressive. I remember touring the Mid Atlantic Air Musuem, when I was less than 10, and hearing them talking about getting the Widow home. I was excited then! That plane has a special place in my heart, and I am also eager to see her fly.

I still remember like it was yesterday.
Seeing a CF-101 pulling a tight turn in AB at the Hamilton Ontario show in the early 80's. My one and only "Century Series" to see fly. Maybe that guy in TX will get one of those "six packs" in the air.

Coming home from Oshkosh, we stopped in Salina, Ks to refuel. After takeoff we asked for a Rt turn out and were refused with a reply of the MOA is hot, proceed to the interstate then turn Rt. About 15 min I was told to check out 9 o clock. I looked over and we had a B-2 paraelling us. We were a flight of 6 T-6s, he was checking us out, and we were checking him out. He pulled ahead of us, crossed in front, then turned back into the MOA. That is the only plane that gives me the chills, and not the good type, when I see it fly. I think just the sight of that over head would cause rag heads to drop a load.

OK, Lets stop all the talk about that darn calendar queen, lets talk about warbirds. We know an F-14 is not by the consensus in the other thread. Why is the big silly black tripod?

Thinking back to the few that gave me that chilly goosebumps type of thing.

Verns Connie, what a great sound!
Fifi, another great sound, at least we will hear her fly again. Right?
The final flybys at Geneseo 91/92, Batavia 95/96, The B-17 gathering at TOM, and dont forget the great pass by Chuck and his Duck!

My list of things I havent seen fly is getting smaller and smaller, I am still looking forward to see a P-39, Lysander, FW-190, N9M and a few other goofy ones. I am thinking that a half dozen P-40s will do this for me too!

I remember seeing Kermit's B-24, while still owned by David T, fly over West Point, NY. I was on the opposite side of the river at Cold Spring when I heard it and ran out to see it fly over the Academy and up the Hudson River valley. It was the first time I'd seen a B-24. Man that site still gives me Goosebumps thinking about it.

Another, not nearly as good, was watching a A-3 do touch -n-goes at NAS LeMoore one hot sunny day while working on the line. I saw this aircraft coming in on final with black smoke trailing from the engines. I stopped and watched it come in. I could not believe it when I saw it was a Whale. I just wish I had a camera with me that day.

Tim
