I want a B-17, but only if Santa brings my wife 20,000 gallons of avgas.
If not, a stock Stearman will do.

I think I'd want a Stinson L-5 - ambulance version. Would use it for medevac demos like we do at Cannon - but would paint it in authentic colors. Would like it to be in utility or normal category and would also see if I could get a waiver to use it for warbird rides. I think I could afford to maintain it.

Remember, you have to be able to take care of it, remember it's been given to you and you can't sell it. A B-17 seems a lot of work and expensive after you have it. A smaller airplane seems more logical.
This is where you are wrong. A B-17 can pay for itself in perpetuity if you go touring. The CAF, EAA and Collings all do this and they make money at it.

Thats what I'd want.

Canopy open, flying over the valley, dive bombing practice over the mothball fleet, yeah baybay, thats all me!

I'm assuming I already have a T-28B, bunny tail, nudie nose art and all.

OK ... come on you crazy people, don't just pick an airplane that you like that doesn't exist anymore, be practicle and responsible, ... I'm your worst nightmare, I'm that high school teacher that is trying to get you to think ... hehehe! ... pick an airplane that exists and is not something that is just sitting in a museum never to be flown again, yet alone see the sun again. Some of you are right on target though .... SBD? ... my F4F will flame you ... lolol

The two seat Buchon that Connie Edwards has. I'd tour it as much as possible and try to get a ride wavier for it as well.

No question. A PZL P.11c. Why? I could go on about the rarity, historical importance, commemoration of a largely forgotten campaign of WWII, etc, but the real reason is, I just kinda like them!

Spitfire. The earlier the Mk, the better. Failing that, a Zero. A Gladiator would be nice too.

But, someone said I have to pay for the gas, etc? If that's the case, how 'bout a Ryan STM?

Ok,

If Santa brought me what's been on my list every year since I was born I'd finally have my very own:

DE HAVILLAND MOSQUITO (but being realistic, and considering the rarity of them... Santa might not be able to find a flying example for me, yet)

So.... my realistic answer would be a:

SUPERMARINE SPITFIRE Mk. V. That's more my style anyway. I'd hate to have an airplane I can't share, but with one seat you've gotta make some sacrifices, right?

And about taking care of the my new 'lil bird... well, I'd work a deal with the Candian Museum of Flight (Where I've been a member and volunteer for years and years) to have her on display so people can see her and I'd fly her with the CMF's other flyers to airshows and fly-ins. She'd really be my pride and joy and I'd count down the days until the Gathering of Spitfires.... I'll see you there Bill!

So there it is everyone. It's a spit for me.

Cheers,

David

P.S. Nathan, goot choice. oz rb fan, I love all your picks too!

Well I wouldn't be picky, I'd take whatever I could get!

However, since the question was posed, I would choose a C-119 Boxcar.
It seems like an odd choice, but I have my reasons. Firstly, I've never seen one fly, so that is reason enough.
Past that, I could pack up the whole family, a car and a pop up camper in back and fly them all off to oshkosh. 8)
