Maybe we should submit resumes and let Scott Check our Qualifications so we can determine who is passing erronous information.

I'm not sure whether your serious or being a wise guy. What would a resume be for? Scott has made his decision on this matter. People will register with him their real names so he can deal with people abusing the board. As I understand it they then may us their call signs on the board. Other than acting like grown-ups and having an interest in the subject, what qualifications would you be refering too? Am I being dense here or just not seeing the humor in it anymore?

Proffesional Qualifications. I have worked aviation in my whole life and I'll put my qualifications against anyone. I never did find any humor in it nor was it meant to be funny Jack. And as for the real name " let's suppose I'm the very high in management for a major aircraft company and I have to protect my privacy because union negoations are coming up and I don't want the union to get my phone or email address. If you don't think this passes the stink test I can forward the whole thing to Scott if he respects my privacy and he can verify what I say to be true .

That's the point. No one needs to see anything but Scott if that's your wish. I have no doubt that Scott will respect everyones privacy. As Scott previously said this is an act of last resort because of some bad apples. As for qualifications, the only necessary one is an interest in the subject. No one is any better than anyone else here. I couldn't tell by your post if you were serious or not. If I offended you I am sorry.

Mr. Motor Pool Officer:

Nope, my comment of course was not directed at you or anyone like you who uses a nickname, but to those who, hiding behind nicknames, throw mud knowing that their anonimity provides them with the valor that they would not have otherwise.

Hey, even my "officlal" name could be a nickname, right?

I believe it is more a matter of attitude and respect to others, than just a matter of using a name or signature. Education and class are taught at home, not bought at any institution of learning.

Same as you, buddy, I am not a pilot (anymore) and if you have noticed my postings, I have a lot to learn about airplanes, and this shows in my questions and statements, and also in my "Aviation Ignoramus" title, chosen tongue-in-cheek but with a high degree of acknowledgement to reality... : )

Saludos,

Tulioi

Nicknames are allowed for some of the reasons that broken-wrench stated. When you register you must supply an e-mail address but you do not have to be make it public. Registering gives me greater control over the posts and over the actions of those involved. The problems have late have been a matter of rudeness and disrespect.I didn't think I would have had to articulate this as a rule but if you do post everyone needs to do so in a courtious and respectful manner. We are all equals here and I loath people hiding behind a screen to make comments and attacks they wouldn't have the guts to do in person.

Suffice it to say there are several individuals on probabtion here, some of you I've talked with and some I haven't. This is to be considered fair warning. Be civil with one another, be respectful, and no name calling or personal attacks will be tolerated. The next instance of this will result in the person doing so being banned for a week. Second offense will be banishment from the forums for good.

I know its harsh, and I have avoided taking such drastic action before now but I am left with little choice.

So, if you wouldn't say it to someones face then don't say it here. And if your a naturally rude person I'm sure you can find an appropriate forum elsewhere.

Spot on Scott, do we need to compare CVs?...it is not a competition ! All anyone needs is an interest in vintage aircraft. As many have said, there is a lot of expertise here in different fields across a broad spectrum. Most can relate their own experiences and express them in a reasonable and courteous manner, and don't deserve a bunch of B.S. from the 'nay sayers' when they decide to do so.

Hello everyone,
I am very new to this forum and only found it by having someone direct me to it. On finding this site I took my time to examine the topics and the quality of the discussions. I consider myself to be an experienced warbird researcher, being successful in the research and recovery of a number of items, artifacts and wrecks relating to Warbirds. I am Australian based but do not consider this a limitation. Unfortunatley I must have come in at a time when the moon was full in some parts of the world!. However, I did register my question re a P-39 wreck in the SWP and got a wonderful and most helpful response. Such was the quality of this response that it has added to my resolve to complete a task of research, so that if nothing else, I can learn more about the sacrifices made by others, during a terrible period in our history. My point here is, lets keep the good work going and lets just ignore those who obviously have a limited understanding about certain aspects of Warbirds. We all have something to learn from each other, nicknames or not. If someone is rude, ignore them, respond around them, make it like they never even submitted a reply. Finally, I have concluded that this is very much a constructive forum and I shall recommend it to as many people as I can.

all the best
