This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Please keep us Arizona WIXers advised of the possible ferry date... so we can capture photos for the forum and WRG.

Speaking of Pima, does anyone have the address to that long format page on the restorations there? I looked on their site and can't seem to find it and doing a search on here hasn't made it easy either.

It is being updated and is not on the site now. Hopefully it wil be back in the near future.

That old page is gone, gone, gone. It had gotten way to hard to find the new stuff buried deep down in the middoe of dozens of photos. I was actually working on the new and much more spiffy ones today. The first project pages should be up in the next few days. They may actually be up by now, I'm not sure. Click on the Collections item in the menu on the front page and then click on the "Read more" link under Restoration on the page that comes up. If the updates are linked up they should appear at the bottom of the page that appears at that point.

What kind of stuff would you folks like to see on the restoration updates, anyway? I won't promise it will all be there but it could help me decide what to put on them. Lets face it the people on here are about the only ones who would bother to dig into that stuff anyway.

I was also working on the page for our newest acquisition, no not the Shackelton.

Those shots in the snow are very cool. With all the snow I bet the old thing thought it was back in Lossiemouth in winter!

It's a neat plane for sure. I don't think they have a right to be snippy with the CAF. That's just ungrateful.

From my trip to Midland earlier in the year...

When you say 'they' ,I hope you don't mean Air Atlantique or the Classic Flight.
Mr Markgrath's comments were his own thoughts I believe and not at all representative of the owners, who were very grateful for the CAF's hospitality over the aircrafts time at Midland.

Unfortunately it came down to a question of cost, just to keep the aircraft in airworthy trim so that it could fly a few hours each year was just not cost effective anymore and with the likelyhood of it being permanently grounded the moment it landed in the UK , there didn't seem much point in spending the tens of thousands to ferry it home either,
when there is a collection of aircraft still flying here that need the money more.
Thankfully Pima have offered it a home where it will be looked after and in a more temperate climate that should ensure its continued existence for a few more years yet.

Sorry, didn't realize he wasn't speaking as a member of the organization.

No worries, I just didn't want folks to think we weren't grateful or didn't care about 'our' aircraft. As that couldn't be further from the truth !
If it wasn't such a long swim ,I am sure we would have sent a care and maintenance party over a few times a year !

The ferry flight is now scheduled for Sunday, December 16. It should arrive sometime in the early afternoon.
