RickH- you're right....it makes alot more sense now! :D

Going to a gunnery range maybe?

Mon Nov 19, 2007 8:06 pm

Have seen A-4's and others transported that way.

Maybe so but the A-4 wing unbolts and the fuselage comes off. The A-4 wing is a one piece wing, goes all the way across and the fuselage sits on top of the wing.

If you saw an A-4 wing done like the one in the picture then it was toast.

Wasn't the MAPS F-4 delivered in the same fashion?

I was just at MAPS, and their F-4 is indeed in very nice shape.

Why thank you... I try! :D

As for the way we "shipped" ours... I think ours was cut closer in towards the body, and the wings were removed in once piece I believe. As it is now the wings are off by about 1/4" from where they should be, but that is where they are gonna stay! Also, we manually removed the horizontals and of course did not cut them.

BTW Mustangdriver... I was looking for you but never saw you. :? For a bit we were in a back room trying to identify some pylon racks we just got for the F-4. That might be why I missed you.

Rick...
1. You wouldn't happen to know where we could get other pylons or bomb racks do you? :D
2. Next time you bring the bomber tour to MAPS, how about bringing the F-4 as well? :D

Woot 500 posts! :D

gunnery range or scrap most likely

If you go to this site and then click the "AMARC in Action" link you will see planes cut in this manner for easy transportation to either scrapping or range targets.

Yeah, I was looking for you too. I did see your mom? That is your mom right? We were going to stay longer, but had to go as we were meeting Charlie at Wadsworth to see the TBM. I need to pick up that big P-38 in your gift shop.
