David, what you said is very true. As a web developer myself, you need to draw the line and take over with what you have.

However, it would not be hard to "link" to other worthy sites.
I still think linking to a flickr group (or creating one) for photo contributions would be worthwhile.
When I travel I often go to flickr and check for museum, airshow... so forth. That way I can see what might be there.
There is one WIX member (T0ny) that did just that.

I haven't been to Nampa,Idaho United States for 2 years now, but I keep up on the aircraft... (besides the P-40N).

Gordon,
Thanks for your post. I saw you guys set up this year at 2007 - Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport Open House.
Was going to talk to one of the people about some of the B-17 (training?) crashes here around Colorado United States.
I think there are several up in the mountains, and I was going to ask if you guys work on those. Looks like everyone was very busy when I stopped by.

The web site is well done, but if walk-in's are ok, then do you have a map link? I should be able to find a map quickly or some type of address.

Thanks for the feedback. Notice the last sentance at the bottom of the home page.

To become part of the Spirit of Flight, reserve office or hangar space, arrange a tour, donate or for more information, please contact us.

The link takes you to the contact page which has a detailed map to the facility. By the way, we are about to start construction on the new facility which will be at Erie Municipal Airport. A formal annoucement is coming out soon.

We work closely with the Colorado Aviation Archeology Society regarding crash sites. The B-17 is larger than aircraft types we (Warbird Recovery) focus our recovery and restoration efforts on, but we are sensitive to crash site location, documention and preservation.

That being said, our new Spirit of Flight facility will have a strong connection with both Colorado and the National aviation archeology groups.

Take a look at www.coloradoaviationarcheology.org to see what they do for Colorado wreck sites.

Ok... my mistake. The download directions are great. But some people do not use Adobe pdf readers. Could you post a simple copy of the map on the contact page? Just a idea.

Sorry, but I was going through the tabs at the top looking for a map. (not really reading anything). If a simple map was displayed, I could then read the details and get the pdf....
A warbird fan would be willing to dig, but a school/group tour may not. This might help you get a little more revenue.

I live in Littleton,CO and I really would like to stop by sometime. This place sounds great.

I'm sorry, I missed that last part. Could you say that a whole lot louder, and about ten million more times? In fact, let me get you some meeting schedules....

What a great point. That's kind of what I'm doing right now with the ALS website: http://www.als-cannonfield.com. Someone else designed it and I'm trying to keep it updated, and hopefully someday maybe change up the style a bit. Any suggestions? On the flip side - I did the design for the event we're hosting in December -
http://www.historicbattles.org and would appreciate any suggestions there as well. I'm really more of an amateur at this than anything else.

Something I always thought would be neat would be a web cam for the musuems that are doing active restoration work or maintenance on flying aircraft.

we are very pleased with our new site that came on line in March 07

Overall reaction has been ecellent and other than some on going server issues (next on the budget) it has worked well.

Keeping it up to date on the other hand is a chore...server problems have put us behind the 8 ball on keeping up, but we expect a permanent solution shortly.

What do you think?
