Who said the T-28 was never the biggest single engine airplane on the ramp?

As for nice things about a T-28; I am thinking guys, I really am, it has only been two days. Something will come to me. As for Reno, does anybody have race speeds for the winner of the 28 class? And how does it contrast with winning T-6 speeds which I think are around 228 or so?

If memory serves it was in the 300 area.

If I remember correctly, a T-28C at 65% power has the same speed and fuel burn as a P-51 at 65 % power !

That was also my nickname in college, but for other reasons.

One thing that's good about the T-28 is that at 6' 4" tall, It's one of the few warbirds that I can fit in comfortably.
Besides, years ago Coke Stuart invited me to become an "Upright Brother"! My given name as an Upright brother is , "Gen. Lee Upright, Trojan Driver"!!!
I do miss Coke a lot.

From Budd Davisson's 'Charlie' pirep at airbum.com:

In a few minutes the ground was 8,500 feet away and I was beginning to get a feel for Charlie, and I liked it. Nose level with power at twenty-seven inches and 2,000 rpm gave me an indicated speed of 203 knots (245 mph true). At that setting Ron says he usually burns about forty to fifty gallons an hour. If he pushes it up to sixty gallons an hour, which is also the economy cruise setting for a Mustang, he trues about the same as a Mustang.
